Lidocaine is a commonly used topical anesthetic discovered in the 1940s. It causes loss of feeling in the skin and surrounding tissues. Lidocaine is used to prevent and to treat pain from some procedures such as having blood drawn and other medical or skin procedures.

Menthol is an organic compound that occurs naturally in the oils of several plants in the mint family, such as peppermint. Menthol has local anesthetic and counter-irritant qualities. Our pharmacy offers compounded Lidocaine 10%/ Menthol 5% topical products that are beneficial in the treatment of minor
aches and pains in muscles and joints.

Lidocaine works by stopping peripheral nerves from sending pain signals to your brain, thereby causing numbness and loss of feeling at the application site. Lidocaine binds to and inhibits sodium channels which initiate and conduct nerve impulses. Lidocaine works quickly, as most people will start to feel a numbing effect within 30 to 60 minutes. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic, meaning that it only lowers pain and numbs in the area of skin closely around or directly in contact with the medication.

Menthol is a counter-irritant that works by causing the skin to feel cool and then warm. These feelings on the skin distract you from feeling the aches and pains deeper in your muscles and joints. Studies have shown that menthol aids in lessening pain, as it interacts with the body’s pain receptors to alleviate
discomfort.

Clonidine is an alpha-2- adrenergic receptor agonist that can reduce pain and inflammation by stimulating receptors in the skin. Studies have shown that topical application of clonidine significantly reduces pain intensity in subjects with neuropathic pain.

Gabapentin works by changing the way the body senses pain. Gabapentin reduces the amount of neurotransmitters released in the area of application, thereby reducing pain and discomfort associated with conditions such as
neuropathic pain, postherpetic neuralgia and diabetic retinopathy.

Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker that aids in reducing inflammation and pain. Nifedipine works by blocking entry of calcium into cells, which in turn relaxes blood vessels. Nifedipine exerts its therapeutic effect by relaxation of
smooth muscles and augmenting blood flow to the affected area.

We care about protecting your ideas, so this is an important step for your security Hop-on a Discovery Call. Get on the phone with one of our reps to discuss your project and exactly what you expect from our services. Make your First Payment. You will receive a service agreement to sign and an invoice for 50% of the project. We accept all credit cards, checks or cash. Try your Formula Sample. Three weeks after an official phone call discussing the project more in detail, you will receive your first formula sample in the mail for you to test. Receive your Formula! Once approved, we send the final invoice and the official formula upon payment completion.

We ask that you have a benchmark because this really helps us understand what you are looking for in your product and often saves a lot of time in the formulation process.
What if I am not happy with my formula?

That is ok! We strive to meet your expectations with excellence. You will have 3 opportunities for revisions to your formula. Typically, having a benchmark product helps prevent any miscommunication In the development stages that may occur.
Can I have a completely organic or all natural formula?

Yes. We can make your formula completely organic or all natural.
Do you follow EWG ratings?

Yes, we can make sure your ingredients rate at the appropriate score.
Do you offer preservative testing?

Yes, we offer preservative efficacy testing.
Can you perform a stability test for my formula? Do I need this test?

Yes, upon request, we can do stability testing for formulas. While the stability test is not mandatory, it is important because it determines the shelf life of your product. If you are interested in getting your product into retail establishments, stability testing is mandatory. It is also mandatory for over the counter and specialty formulas. We always recommend stability testing, especially if your formula is very natural.
